Where it comes from
Alexandre St-Amour grew up in the trade. His grandfather did it, his father did it. ASA Rénovation et Ébénisterie was founded in 2013.
The company started as a cabinetry workshop. That's where the custom know-how comes from, and it's why a general renovation company owns its own workshop today. Renovation came afterwards, through the natural door: the clients who ordered a kitchen ended up asking who was going to open the wall.
What hasn't changed
The team is in-house. The guys who come into your home are the ones who were leaving the previous site, and they're the ones who'll be there on the last day. It isn't a posture, it's a decision about how the company is structured, one that has a cost and that we accept, because it's the only way to hold a standard without renegotiating it at every step.
A subcontractor executes a purchase order, correctly, then they're elsewhere. An in-house team redoes what isn't up to standard without needing to argue about it.
The kind of project we look for
Jobs where the constraint is real. A floor that can't be drilled, a municipality that only allows renovation, a budget that doesn't match the planned material, an access that wasn't granted.
That's where we're useful, and that's where we're worth more than the lowest price. On a simple job with no constraint, a cheaper contractor will do just fine, and we'll tell you so.
The people we work with
Engineers who are members of the OIQ, architects, technologists, designers. On projects that touch the structure, the engineer is a mandatory, permanent partner, not a signature we go get at the end.
